GOVERNOR DAUDA LAWAL APPROVES RENOVATION OF ZAMFARA NYSC PERMANENT ORIENTATION CAMP

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has approved renovation of the Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) located in Tsafe town, Tsafe Local Government Area of the state.

The state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Alhaji Tasi’u Musa disclosed this on Friday at the  scheme’s temporary orientation camp in Gusau, during the swearing-in of 2023 batch ‘B’ stream 2 corps members deployed to the state.

Over a year, the state permanent orientation camp relocated from Tsafe to Government Secondary School (GSSS) Gusau due to security challenges.

Recently, the windstorm had  destroyed facilities in the permanent orientation camp, including the perimeter fencing.

“The state government will  continue to give maximum support to the programmes of the NYSC scheme.

“Let me reiterate the commitment of our administration to accord priority to the welfare of corps members and NYSC staff.

“I want to assure all corps members posted to the state of adequate security throughout their service year,” he added.

The commissioner urged the corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme and their various states in moving the state forward and Nigeria as a whole.

He said a total of 1,435 corps members had  been posted to the state under the 2023 Batch B, Stream 2 for the one year mandatory national service.

Alhassan enjoined the corps members posted to the state to imbibe the spirit of discipline and tolerance to enable them to participate in all camp activities, forming a solid foundation for the service year.

He urged them to uphold the objectives of NYSC, which included integrity, patriotism, promoting unity, discipline, selflessness, reliability, and team spirit at all times.

The representative of the state Chief Judge, Justice Abdullahi Muhammad administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members during the event.
