Ikeja chairman seeks muslim clerics’ support on security, youth reorientation
The Chairman, Ikeja Local Government, Mr Akeem Dauda, on Tuesday engaged the League of Imams in the community, seeking their support to tackle security, sanitation and youth challenges.
Dauda said in a statement that his administration was strengthening security, improving environmental cleanliness and reorienting youths against drug abuse.
“Ikeja is the face of Lagos, we host the Government House, Computer Village and both the local and international airports,” he said.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and support government efforts to safeguard lives and property.
The chairman expressed concern over indiscriminate waste disposal, noting that sanitation was a collective responsibility.
He said that the environmental task force would sustain enforcement until sanity was restored across the council.

“We are working tirelessly to address the waste management challenges affecting parts of the state,” Dauda said.
Speaking for the League, Alh. Kamorudeen Adeola, the Chief Imam of Ikeja Central Mosque, commended Dauda’s commitment to residents’ welfare.
Adeola pledged the Imams’ continued support and promised to sensitise youths against drug abuse and other social vices.
He also prayed for wisdom, success and impactful leadership for the chairman and his administration.
The meeting, held at the Council Secretariat, featured special prayers for peace, stability and the continued progress of Ikeja and its environs.
