Imbibe the teachings of Qur’an in your lives – Bagudu.

Governor Abubakar Atiku of Kebbi State has advised Islamic students especially Qur’anic reciters to imbibe the teachings of glorious Qur’an in their daily lives.

The governor who extolled the virtues and impact of glorious Qur’an recitation competition also said that the Qur’an as the holy book of God is the panacea to societal vices and a sure way to eliminating moral decadence in the society.

The governor represented by Chief of Staff, Government House, Birnin Kebbi gave the advice in his address at the end of 30th State Quranic Recitation competition which was held at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He charged the students and reciters of the Qur’an to strive to sustain Quranic recitation, understand the meaning in the holy scripture and to put into practice what they have learnt in their daily activities.

” I urged all the students and most especially those who have memorize the Qur’an to put Qur’an into use , to guide their daily lives.

‘ The blessings of Qur’an is with those who read it and make use of the holy book to guide their way of lives ‘ , he said.

He commended their tutors for inculcating the reading culture while appealing to their parents to cater for the education of their wards.

He also thanked the traditional and religious leaders for promoting good virtues, peace and security amongst the populace

While praying for the success of the states representatives at the National Quanic recitation competition, he charged them to be good ambassadors of the state and commended the committee saddled with overseeing the recitation competition excercise.

He expressed delight that the competition led to the emergence of best three among the three hundred and three competitors who took part to represent the state.

‘ We are also delighted this young men and women have emerged winners right away from their local government areas up to the state level and will make the state proud at the national level”, he averred.

Bagudu called on all and sundry to join hands with government in its unrelenting effort to make sure no child is left behind in acquiring education from primary to tertiary level.

He said that in its determined effort to provide quality education for all, the Kebbi State Government has selected 504 Quranic schools to be given 500,000 for repairs and maintenance of the school facilities.

The Kebbi State Government has also through the UBEC and SUBEB chosen 25 Quranic schools to be given five million naira each after signing agreement by the proprietors of the schools aimed at rehabilitating the schools and providing the needed furniture and other learning materials.

Bagudu also announced that his administration has spent six hundred and sixty-eight million naira on education matters under the Board of Arabic and Islamic studies in recognition of the important position of religion in societal development.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Alhaji Muhammad Magawata Aliero thanked the state government for supporting both Western and Islamic education in the state.

He said the Kebbi State Government under the leadership of Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has begun implementation of policy of integrating Quranic schools into the formal education system that would enable pupils of such schools not only to learn the Qur’an but also acquire English and Arithmetic knowledge.

The commissioner lauded Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto for initiating the Quranic recitation competition which according him has produced world acclaimed reciters among young men and women in Nigeria.

The competition was categorised by the organisers into six categories. The Two Hizb section ( Chapters), Ten Hizb ( Chapters), Twenty Hizbs( Chapters), Forty Hizbs (Chapters) and Sixty Hizbs ( Chapters) as well as the Sixty Hizbs and Tafsir.

The winner of 2020 in the ultimate category, male, Kabiru Sani from Yauri was turbaned ‘ Gwarzon Shekara’ while in the female category, Hamida Bala emerged the champion and crowded as ” Sarauniyar Hadda’. Both the winners received tricycle, KEKE NAPEP and cash gifts each courtesy of Kebbi State Government.

Other winners of first, second and third categories went home with prizes ranging from motorcycles ,deep freezers, refrigerators, sewing machines, grinding machines and Chinese bed.

Highlights of the event was recitation of the glorious Qur’an. The emir’s of Gwandu, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru were represented by their councilors.
