International Women’s Day: Zamfara NLC organises special prayers for peace

The Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Balkisu Bello Matawalle is to lead a special prayers session for peace in Zamfara and Nigeria at large organised by the Women Committee of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state as part of its commemoration of 2021 International Women’s Day.

The Chairperson of the NLC Women Committee in the state, Comrade Binta Yusuf disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Gusau on Thursday.

She said that the event scheduled to take place on Monday, March 15, 2021 at NLC Secretariat Gada Biyu, Gusau.

“Considering the dwindling security challenges faced by our dear state and Nigeria in general, we choosed to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day with special prayers and seek for Allah’s intervention for peace and stability in the state.

“Hajiya Balkisu Bello Matawalle will serve as a Special Guest of the session, while the State NLC Chairman, Alhaji Sani Halliru Kurya will serve as chief host.

“The reknown Islamic Scholar and State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheik Tukur Sani Jangebe will lead Special Prayers Session”, Comrade Binta Yusuf said.

She described the ugly incident that led to kidnapping of 279 female students of Government Girls’ Secondary School, Jangebe as unfortunate and worrisome.

The NLC Women Committee Chaiperson commended Governor Bello Matawalle and security agencies in the state for the securing the released schoolgirls from bandits.

She called on all stakeholders in the state to continue to cooperate with government and security agencies towards achieving the lasting peace and stability in the state.
