Iran on high alert after alleged strike by Israel in Syria
Iran has reportedly placed its military forces on “full high alert” following an alleged Israeli strike in Syria that killed a top Iranian commander and several Revolutionary Guard Corps members. The strike has prompted Iran to vow revenge, with two Iranian officials stating that Iran has decided to directly attack Israel to create deterrence.
The United States is also on high alert, preparing for a potential attack by Iran targeting Israeli or American assets in the region. US officials believe an Iranian response is “inevitable” and are bracing for a “significant” attack. Reports suggest that Iran may deploy a swarm of explosive drones and cruise missiles in its retaliation.
The strike, which targeted the Iranian embassy’s consular annex in Damascus, has heightened tensions between Israel and Iran. Iran has named two brigadier generals among the dead and has vowed that Israel will not go unpunished.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of a response to any attempts to harm Israelis, as the country braces for potential Iranian retaliation.
The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for further escalation amid mounting regional tensions.
