IWD: BALKISU MATAWALLE LAUDS NCWS OVER 35 PERCENT AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
The Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Balkisu Bello Matawalle has commended National Council for Women Society (NCWS) for its role in ensuring women involvement in governance.
Hajiya Balkisu Matawalle made the commendation in Gusau while speaking at the occasion to commemorate the 2022 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration organised by State chapter of the Women Wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The Governor’s wife who was represented at the by the Executive Secretary, State Examination Board, Hajiya Zuwaira Abdu Gusau noted that the NCWS deserved commendation particularly as regard to 35% affirmative action for women involvement in leadership rules.
“Their action will further bring out the leadership potentials for us to have better society”, she said.
Hajiya Aisha Matawalle described the challenges faced by victims of banditry activities in the state especially women and children as unfortunate and worrisome.

“Today bandits bandits and kidnapers have turned our women as sex slaves.
“I always feel pain. I am always restless with sleepless night when ever such ugly things happened to our sisters”, she explained.
The Gov’s Wife commended present administration in the state led by Governor Bello Matawallen Maradun for his tremendous efforts in addressing lingering security challenges faced by the state.
“I must give credence to His Excellency Governor Bello Matawalle for being proactive in tackling this menace and had rescued some many of our kidnaped mothers and young girls who have been in the captivity of these bandits and kidnapers through the efforts of the security men who risked their lives to rescue them.
“I can imagine the kind of trauma this ugly development has put our women into.
“We should complement government’s efforts by reporting any suspected moves by these devilish men on any government prompt intervention.
“I want to sincere thank the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for setting aside this day once a year to commemorate the women and their lofty achievement thereby giving them the opportunity to voice out we remain grateful”, She added.
According to her, the recognition given to me is highly appreciated and I want to tell you in clear terms that our government would support the women in all their activities”, Hajiya Balkisu Matawalle assured.
In his remarks, the state NLC Chairman, Alhaji Sani Halliru commended the governor’s wife for her support to the NLC activities in the state.
Halliru represented by the State NLC Treasurer, Shehu Sani Doki assured continued commitments of the union to promote welfare of civil servants in the state.
Earlier, the State Chairperson NLC Woman Wing, Comrade Binta Yusuf described the event as colourful with various women representatives from all NLC affiliations bodies in the state.
The Chairperson commended Hajiya Balkisu Matawalle for her motherly support and advises to the women wing and entire NLC in the state.
