JOINT POLICE/VIGILANTE OPERATION NEUTRALIZE 10 BANDITS IN ZAMFARA

A Joint Police/Vigilante operations in Zamfara has neutralised 10 bandits in Hayin Daudu village of Gusau Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Muhammad Shehu disclosed this in a statement issued in Gusau.

“The state police command, in its continued onslaught against activities of recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements in the state, on Monday at about 11pm, responded to a distress call received from Hayin Daudu village that bandits in their large numbers, stormed the area with intent to attack innocent people of the village.

“Police tactical operatives were deployed to Mada town axis in a Joint operation with the vigilante group of Hayin Daudu village and environs in Mada district of Gusau LGA.

“The bandits who were armed with sophisticated weapons, engaged the joint police /vigilante operatives in a gun duel, as a result of the encounter, 10 bandits were neutralised while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds.

“Normalcy was restored in the area with rigorous confidence building patrol being intensified to forestall further attacks on the communities,” Shehu said.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Hussaini Rabi’u therefore, commended the collaborative efforts of the vigilante and other partners fighting crime for their resilience and urged them to sustain the tempo.

He appealed for continuous support and cooperation from the general public in tackling the menace.
