Kebbi LG Election: APC flags-off campaign in Kamba, harps on reconciliation

The Kebbi State chapter of All Progressive Congress (APC) on Saturday flagged-off campaign for the forthcoming Local Government Councils elections in the state.

The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KSIEC) had in Nov. 2021 fixed Feb. 5, 2022 as the day for Chairmanship and Councillorship elections across the state.

Presenting the flags to Chairmanship flag-bearers of the party in the state, Gov. Abubakar Atiku-Bagudu charged them to go back and reconcile with aggrieved party members who felt offended, adding that they were not the best of all.
He said the essence of coming to Kamba was to first of all sympathise with the community over the recent market fire outbreak, to flag off LGC election campaign and to commission a new party zonal office in Kamba.

While thanking the people of the area for electing APC at all levels of elective positions, Atiku-Bagudu also solicited for their votes in the forthcoming LGC elections.

The governor said APC in Kebbi was built and established on perseverance, forgiveness and accommodation, recalling that the present Attorney- General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami was the first gubernatorial aspirant to step down for him in 2015 followed by other aspirants.

“Malami did not join APC to become the Attorney-General but to be governor of Kebbi State, Sen. Adamu Aliero is my brother, he joined APC not to become a senator, all these are the will of God Almighty.

“Therefore, whoever feels that he is clever to become something, is doing a big mistake. Fighting each other is not good for all of us, rather, we should embrace one another for the good and progress of the state.
“I swore with Holly Qur’an that I will defend government and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you can fight Atiku but you cannot fight government,” he noted.

The governor urged all to be patient with one another if they must move the state to a higher level of development.
Atiku-Bagudu noted with satisfaction that the Attorney General’s position held by Malami had paved way for many good uncountable things that came to Kebbi State.

In his speech, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice,Abubakar Malami (SAN) described the gathering as a wonderful one considering the important dignitaries in attendance.
“This gathering is extremely important because we have important personalities that include; the present and former governor of the state, Sa’idu Dakingari, present and former senators, present and former members House of Representatives and traditional institutions, among others.

“I am glad to state that our amiable governor is trained to build not to destroy both in personal and non personal affairs.
“It is in line with this God’s given generosity and mending mind that APC Governors find him worthy to lead them, they believed in Gov. Bagudu’s ability to mend broken hearts and lead them to victory,” he said.

Malami advised the governor to open his large heart and accommodate the factional APC in the state in the event they repent.

Earlier, the State APC party Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed-Kana explained that contrary to insinuations that state party leadership produced the candidates in all the positions, however, stakeholders in each Local Government met and delebrated and reached consensus on their candidates.

He commended the APC leadership in Northern Senatorial District for contributing N50 million to support the party success in the forthcoming LG elections.

Mohammed-Kana argued that there was only one APC in Kebbi State, assuring that there was no any faction as far the party is concerned.
