Matawalle’s defection: Sanction Yari, Marafa for violating APC Constitution, Shinkafi urges Buni

A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara state Dr Sani Shinkafi has called on the National Caretaker Committee of the party to sanction the former Gov of the state, Abdul’aziz Yari and Sen. Kabiru Marafa for working against the decision of the party.

Shinkafi who made the call at a news conference in Gusau on Friday said that the party leadership should take appropriate measures against the former Gov and Marafa for violating the party’s constutution.

“You know, last Tuesday, Gov Bello Matawalle, national and state assembly members in the state including myself defected to the APC.

“Matawalle was received by the National Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party by Maimala Buni and during the occasion Buni announced Matawalle as a new APC leader in the state.

“Buni also announced the dissolution of the state caretaker committee of the party in the state”, Shinkafi said.

“During the event Yari also declared his support to Matawalle as APC leader in the state.

“Very unfortunate after, the occasion Yari and Marafa with Gov Nasiru El-Rufa’i held another meeting in Kaduna challenging the directives of the national leadership of the party on the dissolution of the State LG and wards executives of the party in the state.

“Their action clearly violated Article 9 and 21 of the Constitution of APC, 2014 as ammended”, he added.

According to him, Yari and Marafa have no constitutional right to challenge the decision of the National leadership of the party, describing it as an attempt to cause division within the party in the state.

He called on the National Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala Buni to constitute a disciplinary committee against them for violating the constitution of the party and punish them appropriately.

He appealed to Kaduna state gov Malam Nasiru El-Rufa’i to stay away from Zamfara politics.

According to him, El-Rufa’i has no mandate by either the National Caretaker Committee or President Muhammad Buhari to interfere in the internal issues of the party in the state.

Shinkafi also called on the people of the state not to allow themselves to be misleaded about the political situations in the state.

“We should all come together irrespective of political differences to contribute our quota to development of Zamfara state,” he explained.
