Multitude of PDP members defect to APC from Argungu, Zuru LGs

It was a beehive of activities at the State APC Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi when several decampees from the PDP joined the ruling APC from Argungu and Zuru Local Government Areas.

The decampees were led by some youth and women leaders, as well as PDP stalwarts from  ward levels of the two Local Government Areas.

The State APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Kana Zuru, the Chairman, APC Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Sani Hukuma Zauro, Zannan Gwandu and other party executives formally received the decampees into the fold of the party at the APC Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

Among former PDP members who spoke explained their reasons for entering  into the APC were two women leaders from Kokani North Ward, Argungu, Hajiya Hadiza Garba and Hajiya Sahura, Youth leaders from Sauwa Ward, Abdullahi Kaura, Sani Yusuf, and Isa Abubakar, as well as Abdulmalik Tungar Marina, Abubakar Danbawada and Garba Bawa from Alwasa ward, while Iliyasu Alfa, Tukur Demba, Hajiya Tuni Alhassan, Adamu Alhassan and Salihu Yusuf from Lailaba Ward also addressed the gathering.

They cited injustice, lies, and uncaring attitude by the PDP to its supporters as endemic in the party, saying that the PDP is now history in Argungu Local Government.

The decampees remarked that the excellent record of achievements of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu especially in oads construction which transformed rural areas into viable economic entities was a major attraction for their defection to the ruling party.

They also acknowledged the efforts of Alhaji Sahabi Lolo, APC, Zonal Vice-Chairman, Kebbi North, particularly the developmental strides of the Chairman of Argungu Local Government Council, Alhaji Salihu Ahmad K.C, who facilitated their entry into the APC.

Presenting the decampees to the State APC party Chairman, the Argungu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Salihu Ahmad K.C, commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his exemplary leadership of unity, progress, prosperity, peace, security and economic growth, which served as the pillar of the people Kebbi state to rally round the state government.

He described the PDP decampees as active and effective party machinery whose entry into the APC would seal victory for the party in the forthcoming general elections in Argungu Emirate.

Similarly, hundreds of PDP decampees to the APC from Zuru Emirate were formally received by the APC leadership at the party’s Secretariat, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday.

Those who made comments on their defection to the ruling party included a youth leader, Isa Wade, Mr. Majo Koro, Mr. Maisamari Dogo, Alhaji Nura Maifata, Abubakar Sa’idu and Mr. Dagana’o.

They were highly critical of the PDP, describing it a loose party that lacks unity of purpose .

The decampess praised Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Kana Zuru, for implementing the cardinal policy of the APC of development, societal growth and well-being of the citizenry.

They assured the APC leadership that they would faithfully join hands to work for the success of the party in Zuru during the 2023 general elections .

Addressing the PDP decampees, the Chairman, APC Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Sani Hukuma Zauro, Zannan Gwandu,  welcomed them into the APC, assuring that they would enjoy equal rights and privileges in the party.

In his remarks, the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Kana Zuru, assured the de-campees of equity and equal treatment, advising them to be loyal and supportive to the APC and the government.
