NDDC boss, Sylva, APC chairman, others receive entertainment award

Dr Sam Ogbuku, Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, and Mrs  Alanyingi Sylva, Wife of a former Governor of Bayelsa, are among the recipients of the 2023 Sylva Entertainment Award.

Also honoured include Sen. Biobarakumo Degi, who represented Bayelsa East at the Senate in the past, a former Member of the House of Representatives, Mr Preye Oseke, and the Chairman of All Progressive Congress in Bayelsa, Mr Dennis Otiotio.

The Sylva Entertainment Annual Award ceremony took place on Friday at Tamara Event Centre  in Yenagoa.

Mrs Gloria Izonfuo of the National Population Commission and a former Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa, Mr Desire Nsirim, also received the award. 

According to the organisers,  the annual award aims to recognise those who have demostrated exceptional performance in their fields of endeavour. 

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the award categories include: public service, music, content creation and studio presentation.

The other categordies are radio presentation, disc jockeying, entrepreneurship, good governance, human capital development, philanthropy and outstanding humanitarian service.

At the event, the member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 4 in the Bayelsa House of Assembly, Mr Victor Ben, praised the organisers for the initiative.

He said that Bayelsa had  finest artistes and they were doing well across the world. 

Ben remarked that former Gov. Timipre Sylva did much for the entertainment industry during his tenure as governor.

He said that entertainment had become a big industry and that Bayelsa youths were multi-talented.

Responding, Mrs Alanyingi Sylva, said that the award meant much to her, adding that it was a call to do more.

She urged young people to aspire for the best and put in their best so as to impact much on the society.
