NEMA donates relief materials to 22 Katsina LGA flood victims – Official
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials to the 2022 flood victims in 22 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State, an official has said.
The agency’s Distribution Supervisor, Hajiya Ummuna Ahmed, disclosed this on Friday during the distribution of support materials to the victims.
Ahmed said the special intervention was meant to cushion the effects of the disaster on the victims.
She said that NEMA had sustained its awareness creation among the people living in flood-prone areas for them to be extra vigilant and prepared for possible flooding during the rainy season.
She advised such people to relocate from the lower ground to higher ground for their safety and their property.
Ahmed said that the beneficiaries of the relief materials were carefully selected from the affected LGAs.
According to her, they are the most vulnerable victims of the 2022 flood.
She listed the relief materials as grinding machines, sewing machines, water pumping machines, insecticides and pesticides, mattresses, bed sheets, mats, rice and cooking oil, amongst others.

Faskari commended the Federal Government for complementing the State Government’s efforts toward alleviating the sufferings of the flood victims.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Hajiya Binta Dangani, advised the beneficiaries not to sell the items.
Dangani recalled that SEMA recently distributed relief items, such as building materials, comprising cement and roofing sheets, worth over N50 million, to at least 600 victims of the recent flooding in seven LGAs in the state.
