NIS hands over 18-yrs-old girl Libya- bound victim of trafficking to NAPTIP in Kebbi

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has handed over to NAPTIP, an 18-year-old girl victim from Oyo state arrested in Kebbi while allegedly on her way to Libya.

The victim was traveling alone when she was arrested by immigration border personnel in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi.

The Comptroller of the NIS in the state, Mrs Rabi Bashir Nuhu, made this known while addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

“The victim, who is from Oyo state, was arrested yesterday going to Libya en route Yauri to Sokoto.

” She said, her name is Wasilat Yusuf , and was going to Libya upon her sister’s invitation to come and secure a cleaning job for her.

“She has a HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis tests with her and said it was her sister who insisted that she most conduct the tests before her coming to Libya,” she said.

Nuhu wondered why upon all the opportunities abound, peace and security in the country, someone would go to Libya for work in spite of the security challenges therein.

“We have to apply Pact 10 and 11 of Immigration Act 2015, receive them and hand them over to NAPTIP,” she said.

“My sister is, Biodun Yusuf, and is living in Libya and doing sale of clothes business.

” She invited me to come and get a cleaning job there,”she said.

Receiving the victims, the Head of Operation of NAPTIP in the state, Alhaji Sadiq Atiku, said that the agency would undertake thorough investigation of the matter.
