NPC COMMENCES UPDATING ENUMERATION AREA DEMARCATION (EAD) IN 3 ZAMFARA LGAs, FEDERAL COMMISSIONER
The National Population Commission (NPC) has began updating Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) exercise in three local government areas of Zamfara State.
The Federal Commissioner of the Commission in charge of Zamfara, Alhaji Muhammad Muttaka Rini said this while speaking to newsmen in Gusau on Tuesday.
“ As part of the preparations for the 2022 population and housing census, the commission will undertake the updating exercise of the EAD in some Local Government Areas (LGAs) demarcated previously across the 36 states of the federation including the FCT”
“In Zamfara, the exercise will be conducted in Bakura, Bungudu and Gusau LGAs”, he said.
According to him, the objective of the exercise is to bring the enumeration Areas (EA) maps up-to-date with the current realities on ground using the latest EAD pad application and updating methodology.
Others are to recapture and analylise the rate of change in EA, building density and uses, households’ numbers and sizes as well as other visible physical changes on ground.
“The exercise is therefore based on the advancement in technology and untiring desire for the commission to conduct a digital and credible census that will meet the global standard.
“It will also involve the revising and listing of old new building and households using the current improved methodology.

“The exercise will involve completion of mop-up exercise for some areas which could not be demarcated in previous phases of the EAD due to security threat and completion of roads and building vectorisation exercise to be carried out simultaneously with the EAD updating exercise.
“The exercise has already commenced on Monday March 7 and will run up to April 7 “, he added.
Muttaka-Rini assured the commission’s commitments and readiness toward a successful census.
“We wish to solicit support and cooperation of the state government, LGAs, traditional institutions, the media and other stakeholders in sensitisation and mobilisation of members of the public in the selected LGAs to ensure the successful completion of the exercise”, he said.
