NYCN commends APC for “youth-friendly” primaries in Imo

The Imo Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) commends the  All Progressives Congress (APC) for its “youth-friendly” primary elections in the state.

The state Chairman of the council, Humphrey Osuji, made the commendation during an interactive session with newsmen in Owerri, on Friday.

According to him, APC in Imo conducted the primary elections in a manner that left the youths with hope for fair representation and a vibrant political future.

He hailed the emergence of youths as flag bearers for different positions and urged the electorate to strongly consider giving the youths a chance.

“We note with pride and satisfaction the emergence of Chukwudi Anyanwuocha, a young, well-educated, and competent lawyer as APC flag bearer for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal Constituency seat.

“This outcome affirms the growing recognition that the youths are not merely future leaders but capable leaders of today, and we pledge our support for him.

“We observe that his emergence has generated genuine enthusiasm among young people across the constituency, many of which now see in his candidacy a rare and direct stake in the political process,“ Osuji said.

The group cautioned against any tendency to reverse the outcome of the primary election.

It warned that reversing his emergence could not only breach public peace, but also profoundly demoralise the youths of the constituency, fracture party cohesion at the grassroots, and place the party at serious risk of losing the seat in the General Election.

Osuji reiterated the council’s commitment to peaceful, lawful, and constructive political engagement, while calling on all the stakeholders to do the same.
