Oborevwori urges corps members to be innovative, take posting with positive attitude

Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to be innovative, take postings with dedication and a positive attitude, as they proceed to their various places of primary assignment.

The governor gave the advice on Wednesday at the closing ceremony of Batch B stream ll at the orientation camp in Issele-Uku.

Oborevwori, represented by Mr Brave Enodeh, Commissioner for Youth Development and Special Projects, said place of posting would not determine their impact during the service year.

He said: “The impact of your service year will not be measured by where you are posted but by the commitment, integrity, and professionalism you bring to your assignments.

“Whether you serve in schools, health facilities, government offices, private organisations, farms, or rural communities, strive for excellence.

“Be innovative. dependable, and solution-oriented. Let your service leave a lasting and positive impact wherever you are deployed,” he said.

He urged corps members to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and committed to excellence as they begin the important phase of their service.

“Respect the customs and traditions of your host communities, promote peaceful coexistence, and uphold the ideals of the NYSC.

“Above all, endeavour to leave every community better than you met it. Let your service be remembered for integrity, hard work, and a genuine commitment to nation-building.

“In doing so, you will bring honour to yourselves, your families, Delta, and our great nation,” he said.

Oborevwori congratulated them on the successful completion of their orientation course with intensive training designed to prepare them for the responsibilities and challenges of national service.

“I commend you for the discipline, resilience and commitment you demonstrated throughout the orientation exercise.

“The orientation programme has been more than a camp experience. It has equipped you with the values of discipline, teamwork, leadership, patriotism, and selfless service.

“I am confident that you are leaving this camp better prepared to make meaningful contributions to your host communities and our nation.

The governor said the state government is committed to the implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda, through expanding opportunities, improving infrastructure, strengthening security, and enhancing the welfare of the people.

“As corps members, you are important partners in this journey. I encourage you to contribute your knowledge, skills, and creativity to the development of the state.

“Through your CDS projects, you have a unique opportunity to identify local needs and provide practical solutions that will improve lives and leave enduring legacies in your host communities.

He encouraged them to take full advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

“The skills you acquire will prepare you for self-employment, wealth creation, and greater economic independence after your service year.

He also commended corps members employers and host institutions across the state for their continued support for the NYSC scheme and appealed for their sustained cooperation.

He urged them to provide corps members with a conducive working environment, proper mentorship, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to their organisations.

Mr John Kwaghe, the State Coordinator for NYSC commended the corps members for the discipline, maturity, and sense of responsibility they have all displayed throughout their stay on camp.

“Your conduct reflects the core values of the NYSC scheme and that has given us every reason to believe that you will serve with dedication, integrity, and patriotism.

“The drills, sporting, lectures and other social activities enriched the Orientation Course by promoting teamwork, discipline, physical fitness, and healthy competition.

“They also strengthened the spirit of unity and friendship among you, which remain some of the enduring objectives of the NYSC scheme,” he said.

He also commended the  enthusiastic participation of the corps members in the SAED programme.

“The skills you have acquired will serve as valuable tools for self-reliance and wealth creation.

“I encourage you to continue with the post-camp training and take advantage of every opportunity to develop your talents,” he said..
