Philanthropist donates toilets, sola lights to Quranic schools in Yobe

A Yobe-based philanthropist, Kashim Tumsah, popularly known as KMT, has donated modern toilet facilities and solar-powered outdoor lights to Quranic schools in the Nassarawa and Abbari areas of Damaturu.

Alhaji Umar Alooma, Director-General of the KMT Team, disclosed this while officially handing over the facilities to the beneficiary schools in Damaturu on Monday.

He said the projects were completed within two weeks, underscoring KMT’s commitment to swift, and community-focused action.

“Following an urgent request from the schools’ leadership, KMT approved funding within 24 hours for the following interventions:

“Construction of modern toilet facilities to address chronic sanitation issues affecting over 500 Almajiri and Modern Tsangaya students;

“Installation of solar-powered street lights to enhance safety and support night-time learning, and sponsorship of the schools’ long-delayed Qur’anic graduation ceremony,” Alooma said.

Speaking on behalf of the schools, Alhaji Abdulrahman Yusuf expressed gratitude to KMT for the prompt response and timely completion of the projects.

“No leader has matched this urgency in more than 20 years of our existence,” he said.

Meanwhile, applications for Tumsah’s cash prize for top-performing candidates in the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) have closed, with winners to be announced soon.

Tumsah had earlier pledged a N100,000 cash award to any Yobe indigene who scored over 300 in the UTME, as part of his commitment to promoting human capital development in the state.
