POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS OVER VANDALISM OF TRANSFORMER IN ZAMFARA


Zamfara Police Command said it arrested two suspects for vandalism of transformer and other electrical installations in Wanzamai Village, of Tsafe Local Government Area of the state. 

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu.

According to Shehu, the arrest followed a distress call received from the Area Manager, Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) Tsafe Branch, regarding the vandalism of Transformer and other electrical installations in Wanzamai Village.

He explained that large quantities of Aluminium conductor wire valued at about N800, 000 were removed.

He said that the suspects hailed from Wanzamai Village of Tsafe Local Government Area in the state.

“The Divisional Police Officer, Tsafe Division acted on intelligence information and arrested the suspects in possession with large quantities of melted Aluminium conductor wire.
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to the offence and further mentioned their partners in crime, now at large.

“The Command under the leadership of CP Ayuba Elkanah is applying various strategies to arrest the fleeing suspects and charge them to court for prosecution,’’ Shehu explained.


He assured of the command’s adequate protection of public and private installations across the state.
He also advised the public to be vigilant and report any attempt to vandalize such equipment for prompt action.
