Presidential election: Court dismisses APM’s petition, says it lacks merit

The Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, on Wednesday dismissed  a petition filed the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, seeking the nullification of the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Appeal Court strikes out APM’s Suits against the victory of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2023 presidential Election.

Justice Haruna Tsammani held that members of a Political Party are not allowed by law to challenged the nomination of candidates of another political party and concludes that the petitioner lacks the lucus standi to institute the petition.

Justice Tsammani also held that invalid nomination or double nomination did not qualify as a grounds for disqualification in respect of presidential election as provided in sections131 and 137 of the Constitution.
