RAMADAN: YARI DISTRIBUTES 172 TRUCKS OF FOOD ITEMS

The former Governor of Zamfara, Abdul’aziz Yari on Thursday, flagged off distribution of 172 trucks of assorted food items to his supporters and the less privileged ahead of the 2022 Ramadan fast.


Flagging off the distribution in Gusau, Yari represented by Senator Kabiru Marafa, said the items were provided by the former governor considering the current inflation in prices of food items in the country.


According to him, the items comprised 50 bags of rice, 50 bags of maize, 50 bags of millet and 22 bags of sugar.
“The beneficiaries comprise orphans, widows, people with special needs, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as well as other categories of the needy.


“Out of the items, 105 trucks was set aside for his teeming supporters across the 147 wards in the 14 local government areas of the state.

“While 15 trucks to distributed to the orphans and 47 trucks for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the state, while the remaining five trucks would be distributed to Islamic scholars and other religious leaders,”Yari explained.
He said that the distribution of 47 trucks for IDPs would be carried out by Zamfara Circle, a popular Civil Society Organization (CSO) in the state.


He said that 11-man committee would be constituted to monitor the distribution of the items.
The former governor also called on people of the state to use the upcoming ramadan period to prayer for solutions to the issue of insecurity facing the state and country in general.


Earlier, the State Chairman of Yari’s Political Group, Alhaji Lawal Liman, commended the former governor for the gesture and assured that the items would reach all the beneficiaries.
