Remain resolute to reclaim, dominate public space- Kaigama tasks Police in Sokoto
Mr Ali Kaigama, the new Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State on Friday tasked the police officers to remain resolute, to reclaim the public space taken over by criminals in the state.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Kaigama, who assumed duty on Tuesday, said this at his first meeting with the officers in the state.
According to him, it is unfortunate and sad that Sokoto State is among the worst hit of the states with security challenges, which has become a disturbing issue in some parts of the country.
“This situation has brought about dare consequences especially in the eastern part of the state, consisting of Sabon Birni, Isa, Goronyo, Illela, Gwadabawa, Rabah, Wurno, and Gada Local Government Areas.
“Some local government areas in the state have witnessed so much insecurity that It has inflicted psychological trauma on the residents and affected their economic activities.
“I, therefore, call on officers and men in this state to remain resolute in the face of these challenges,” he said.
Kaigama added that the police could not do it alone but must collaborate with the military, sister agencies and all critical stakeholders.
“This is including our dear brothers from the vigilante groups across the state for a better and successful result of reclaiming and dominating the public space.
“,However, my speech will not be complete without appreciating and soliciting the support of members of the press, who are very critical in the fight against crime and criminality,” he added.
He commended the wisdom and confidence of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, and his Management Team , for finding him fit to lead the noble efforts of maintaining law and order in the state.

Kaigama also thanked his predecessor, Mr Muhammed Gumel, now CP Kano State, for laying a solid foundation which he would uphold and improve on .
The CP also called on all the people in the state to get involved in his noble course directly or indirectly contributing intelligence, saying, “security is every body’s business”.
“This marks the beginning of a new dawn in fighting crime and criminality in Sokoto State, as such I enjoin all officers and men to be professional and dedicated.
“We should all strive to perform our duties diligently and optimally with passion, vigour and sincerity of purpose, until the residents of the state sleep with their two eyes closed ,” Kaigama said.
