SENATOR MARAFA’S LED APC FACTION CONDEMNS SPURIOUS ALLEGATIONS ON SECURITY

Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa’s led faction under the chairmanship of Alhaji Sirajo Garba Maikatako has condemned recent allegation on security against Former National Security Adviser and Minister of Defence, Gen. Aliyu Gusau rtd by Gov Bello Matawalle’s APC led faction and described it as madness.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday by the Publicity Secretary to the Faction, Hon. Bello Bakyasuwa Maradun.

“We read with dismay the reckless and wild allegations made by one Yusuf Idris who presented himself as State APC Publicity Secretary under Gov Bello Matawalle’s APC faction associating the state of insecurity with a ‘Retired General’ who owns 70 percent of the mining sites in the state.

“One of the publications in the Vanguard newspaper of 4th January, 2022 quoted Mr. Yusuf arguing irrationally by using when and how People’s Democratic Party led Governors commiserated with Zamfara state on select security incidents as a basis for his spurious association.
“For the record, we seek to be counted out of this madness”, Bakyasuwa Maradun said.
“The Senator Marafa-led faction  categorically condemns the allegation and consider it as baseless, careless and irresponsible.

“Our understanding of the formation and character of the three factions of APC in the state vis-a-vis the contents of the briefing from which the reports were developed point to the action as a product of the crafty government faction that depends on blackmail, propaganda and witch-hunt to survive.

“We are obliged by statements like this to call on the media to do well by indicating clearly the faction of APC from where they sourced the content of their publications”, he said.

“According to him, “for the record, Zamfara State so far has three factions of APC namely Former Governor Yari-led faction; Senator Marafa-led faction; and Governor Bello Matawalle-led faction in the order of their formation since the lingering crisis that characterised the party from 2019 to date”.

“Unless the dispute is settled by competent court of law or acceptable consensus, we want to appeal to the professional standing of the media to properly label reports with their relevant factions to avoid misguided attributions.

“While making this call, we consider it a duty to call on Gov Bello Matawalle’s-led faction of APC which Mr. Yusuf Idris represents to moderate their desperation and accord due respect to our elder statesmen by avoiding cowardly and escapist statements against their person”, he added.

“We have seen how some online media organisations have already interpreted the statement and associated the allegation with the respected person of General Aliyu Muhammad Gusau (Rtd).
“We consider the action of Mr. Yusuf as a too brazen and given to easy defamation on the hard earned character of a senior citizen like General Aliyu Gusau who serves the nation at different levels of note including the position of National Security Adviser.

“As a faction within the same Party, we consider it apt to advise the APC faction to rather advice its factional leader, Governor Bello Matawalle, to minimise his endless national and international trips and stay in the state to focus on supervising the various operations of the Nigerian army against the bandits.

“We are particularly worried that while these operations were going on, the Governor was outside the country attending the traditional wrestling events in Niger Republic.

“These and the abysmal absence of developmental projects in the state are not in tendem with the principles and ideals of APC that we know as founding members”, he stated.
