Sokoto Lawmaker, Gorau Empowers Constituents, PWDs

In his continued determination to bring dividends of democracy to his constituent, the member representing Gada/Goronyo Federal Constituency in Sokoto, Bashir Usman Gorau has once again empowered over 500 people including those with special needs. 

The empowered which was done in collaboration with the Directorate of National Employment saw to the training of some beneficiaries on life skills and a grant of 30,000 given to 500 people. 

The beneficiaries include 50 People with Disability,  250 boys and 200 girls drawn from the two local government of Gada and Gorornyo in Sokoto State. 

The gesture tagged, “Skills Acquisition for NANO Businesses For People With Special Needs (Disabled) in the two local government brought visible joy to the beneficiaries as most of them recalled with gladness how the Federal Lawmaker, Garau has been helping them in several ways. 

NANO businesses is that type of enterprise that is characterized with  few of zero number of employees, hence requiring little grant to commence.  

Giving testimony of how they have been enjoying dividends of democracy courtesy of Honourable Garau, one of the beneficiaries, a middle aged Person With Disability (PWD), Umaru Hassan listed several of the Lawmakers human capital development programmes to include, provision of agricultural inputs, cash, motorcycles, tricycles, water pumping machines, to youth and women empowerment to  paymemt of tuition fees for Nursing as well as those of undergraduate and post graduate students in the various higher institutions that indegenes of Gada and Goronyo local government areas. 

Commenting on the development, the Sokoto acting State Coordinator of NDE, Malam Lukman Abubakar said it’s a welcome development even as he charges influencial people and political office holders to partner with NDE towards creating and sustaining a self reliant society.
