Sokoto: NMA pledges to support incoming administration to bolster health delivery

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Sokoto State chapter, has pledged to work with the incoming APC-led administration of Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu towards ensuring a dynamic health system in the State.

The NMA leadership made the commitment while presenting a congratulatory letter to Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North), the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in the state on Thursday.

The letter was jointly signed by the state NMA Chairman and Assistant Secretary, Dr Umar Mukhtar and Dr Abdulrahman Ahmad, respectively.

The association congratulated Wamakko, Sokoto State Governor-elect and all the elected APC officials for emerging victorious during the 2023 general elections in the State.

It said a committee of medical elders, think-thank and Chief Executive Officers of heath institutions in the State, as well as key stakeholders had been set up.

“They will x-ray the health sector of Sokoto State with a view to coming up with a road map that will begin to reverse the decay in the health sector.

“The committee will also fashion out a way forward for the sector in the State so as to provide quality health services to the people of Sokoto,” it said

The group also attributed the successes recorded by  APC candidates to  the sterling qualities of leadership and unblemished track record of the former Governor of the state, Wamakko.

Responding, Wamakko thanked NMA for the message and prayed Allah to reward them abundantly.

He pledged to work together with the association towards the attainment of the set target for the overall development of the state especially in the health sector.
