SS 3 Student Stabbed to Death by Co-Tenant in FCT

202

In Kubwa town of FCT, a 19-year-old secondary school student, Salma Yunusa, has been stabbed to death, allegedly by her co-tenant.

Salma, residing under the care of her elder sister, Bilikisu Yunusa, in the Byazhin area, fell victim to the violent confrontation.

According to reports from City & Crime, the suspect, identified as Immaculate Chukwudi, was promptly apprehended by the police. Chukwudi resided in the same compound as a co-tenant with the deceased and her sister.

Recounting the harrowing events, Bilikisu revealed that a dispute erupted between Chukwudi and another male tenant known as Pastor, leading to her intervention. She described a series of confrontations, including a disturbing incident where Chukwudi threatened her with a knife late at night.

The altercation escalated the following morning when Chukwudi spat on water Bilikisu had fetched. Salma, upon hearing about the incident, discarded the water, further aggravating Chukwudi. This led to a fatal confrontation where Chukwudi allegedly stabbed Salma in the chest.

Bilikisu rushed her sister to Kubwa General Hospital, where tragically, Salma was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police were immediately informed, leading to Chukwudi’s arrest.

She said, ‘’I saw the pastor parking off his clothes that he washed, even though they were yet to dry and when I tried to find out why, he simply told me that it’s the suspect that demanded it”.
I commended his decision, only for the woman to come out and threaten to deal with me, accusing me of being involved in the matter. She brought out a knife later around 10 pm in the night, and continued to make some noise in the house.

‘’In the following morning, I went to my drum to fetch water, but the woman approached again and spit over the water. My younger sister (the deceased) came out from the room, and after informing her about the development, she immediately threw away the water on the ground, which seemed to have annoyed the suspect. So, the suspect left only for her to return with a bucket filled with water and emptied it on my sister.

‘’As my sister was trying to clear her face from the water, she brought out a knife and stabbed her on the chest. I rushed her to the Kubwa General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.’’

Salma was laid to rest last Wednesday in her hometown of Ajagwumu, Dekina LGA, Kogi State. Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT police command, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will soon face charges in court.
