Tambuwal Flags Off Sales Of Fertilizer For 2022 Farming Season

The Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on  Monday fagged off the sales and distribution of 100metric tonnes of Fertilizer for 2022 farming season.

The Governor who pegged NPK product at Thirteen thousand naira (N13000 ) against Twenty – Eight thousand naira (N28000) market price , kicked against selling the product to marketers.

The Governor further explained that eighty percent of Sokoto resident are farmers stressing that Sokoto has comparative advantage of producing some crops because of its weather.

He maintained that his administration has secured N4billion central bank intervention funds for 16000.rice and tomatoe farmers.

He noted that his Agricultural policy is yielding positive results hence the establishment of Dangote Rice Mill and Morocco Fertilizer blending plant  at  Kware and Kalambaina respectively.

The Governor who encouraged even workers in the state to diversify their income by venture into farming promised to assist any body who venture into farming with subsidize inputs.

He also disclosed that he is working assiduously with the security agencies in the state to stem the tide of insecurity in the rural areas especially in the Eastern senatorial district to enable them to go back to their farms.

Earlier the commissioner of Agriculture in the state Prof Aminu Abubakar Illela thanked the Governor for providing support to farmers in the.area of Fertilizer and other agricultural inputs.

He stated that measure were put in.place to prevent the diversion of the product promising that the product will go to the real farmers.
