Taraba: group urge Tinubu to consider Ardo for appointment

Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo

Taraba Advocacy for Good Governance and Justice (TAGGJ), a socio-political organisation based in Taraba State has called on the President elect Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider the pioneer Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state Alhaji Hassan Jika Ardo for Ministerial appointment in the interest of justice and fairness.

Leader of the group Muhammad Ali, who disclosed this in Jalingo on Friday said that with the various crisis rocking the party at the moment, Ardo is needed to bring his people management capacity to unite the party and provide the needed opposition in the state.

Ali recalled that Ardo, who ruled the party for several years and led the party to the botched Governorship victory in 2015, has shown capacity to lead the party and unite the party by resolving the grievances of members.

“I want first of all congratulate our President elect, his vice and all other persons who won various positions in the last elections, both at the state and national levels.

“Our party is under serious threats in Taraba, largely because we have not been able to have a leader who will embrace all members, objectively address their grievances and forge a way forward. The good old days of the APC in Taraba are fast becoming history. For the first time, the party came a miserable third in Governorship election in the state. This is really saddening.

“The leadership of the party is in turmoil and that has cascaded to the grassroots. Unfortunately, while most of the elected officials of the party are part of the crisis. It therefore requires an outsider with proven records to tackle the issues. We had expected the honourable minister to play this role prior to the elections but that never happened, leading to the abysmal outcomes.

“Consequently, we sat down and after critical examination of the situation, have resolved to call on the President elect consider Alhaji Hassan Jika Ardo as the next minister from Taraba State.

“Ardo has proven that he has the capacity to manage the party and win victories. He led the party to the governorship victory in Taraba that was stollen brazenly. Throughout his reign over the party, grievances were handled amicably and the party was always able to forge ahead united in purpose and pursuits.

“Today, we are confident that of he is made a minister, that position will automatically place him in a position to be able to intervene authoritatively in the state’s party affairs. Considering that he stands as one of the most respected members of the party who groomed most of the big weights in the party today, we believe that this huge acceptability will do the party a lot of good. He deserves compensation from the party for meritorious service anyway” Ali said.
