The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar has reiterated the importance of partnerships like the one between the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in driving national development.

He stated during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Architect Sonny Echono, at TETFund’s Headquarters in Abuja, on 22 November 2024.

Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration in driving national development and praised TETFund’s transformative contributions to AFIT, Kaduna, through research grants, ICT projects, and staff training.

He emphasized that such collaborations are pivotal for building a secure, prosperous Nigeria..

He also expressed his appreciation for the Fund’s transformative contributions to Nigeria’s education sector in general, particularly through its infrastructure and research-focused initiatives.

Air Marshal Abubakar commended TETFund’s impact on the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), particularly through its support of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna.

He highlighted TETFund’s sponsorship of research projects, provision of research grants, development of ICT facilities, and staff training programmes, which have collectively enhanced AFIT’s capacity to deliver world-class education and skills development.

He added that these contributions align with the NAF’s broader vision of fostering capacity building for national progress.

He further stated, “As we navigate the complex challenges of today’s world, partnerships between institutions like TETFund and the Nigerian Air Force remain crucial.

Together, we can build a stronger and more secure Nigeria, where education and defense work hand in hand to shape a prosperous future.”

The CAS also acknowledged the pivotal role of education in national development, emphasising the NAF’s commitment to operating institutions such as the AFIT and the Nigerian Air Force School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine.

These institutions, he noted, not only strengthen the NAF’s operational capacity but also contribute significantly to societal advancement through high-quality training and research.

In response, the Executive Secretary, Arch. Sonny Echono reaffirmed TETFund’s support for education and innovation while commending the Armed Forces’ role in creating a peaceful environment for development.

Echono further, praised the NAF for its dedication to advancing education and pledged TETFund’s continued support for initiatives that promote research, innovation, and national development.

The Executive Secretary also commended the efforts and sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in restoring peace and security, to create the enabling environment for development.

The visit reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both institutions to leveraging education as a tool for a stronger and more secure Nigeria.

Together, NAF and TETFund aim to leverage educational development towards enhancing national security for a brighter future.
