Transition Committee finalises arrangements for smooth handing over
All arrangements have been concluded for the smooth and successful inauguration of Kebbi state Governor-elect, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, on Monday, the 29th of May, 2023.
The Chairman of the Transition Committee, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, affirmed this at a news briefing in Birnin-Kebbi, this Friday.
Already, special prayers have been held in mosques beseeching God for His Blessings and peaceful handing over of power in the state and nationwide.
Similar prayers would be offered in churches on Sunday throughout the state.
Other activities for the inauguration are special Walima for both males and females, special Christian service, horse racing competition to be held on 28th May, 2023 while the swearing-in of the governor-elect, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu and his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida will take place on 29th May at Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi.
The SSG, Babale Umar Yauri called on the people of Kebbi state irrespective of political affinity to participate in these events as well as give the necessary support and cooperation to the incoming administration.
The Secretary to the Government recalled that since return to civil rule in 1999, Kebbi state has witnessed six successful post transition competitive multi-party elections, including the 2015 election which ushered in the administration of Governor Atiku Bagudu.

He pointed out that smooth transition has stabilized democratic governance in Kebbi state and in Nigeria as well as facilitated successful achievements in many sectors of the economy.
The Chairman, of the Transition Committee explained that following the victory of Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu as governor-elect in the February 2023 election, Kebbi state government approved the constitution of the committee and sub committees while funds for the activities of the committes were approved by Governor Atiku Bagudu.
The committee has been charged with preparing detailed handover note and progress report of the administration to serve as veritable platform for successful transition to the incoming administration.
