UKaid funded project organised joint review and planning meeting for Kaduna, Zamfara CSOs

The UKaid funded project, Expanding Social Protection for Inclusion Development (ESPID) has conducted three days joined review and planning meeting for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Media from Kaduna and Zamfara states.

The meeting which held at Joclarif Hotel in Zaria was organised by Save the Children International (SCI) an NGO implementing social protection programme in the two states been funded by the UKAid through Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).

The meeting has about 40 participants drowned through CSOs platforms working to promote Social protection in the two states.

The platforms were Zamfara Social Protection Platform (ZSPP) and Kaduna Social Protection Accountability Coalition (KADSPAC).

Earlier, the ESPID resource person,  Saheed Mustafa said the objective of the meeting was to develop CSOs implementation plan to ensure that activities can deliver programmes’ objectives.

According to him, the meeting was also to deepen programme staff understanding of ESPID’s strategic plan and encourage big picture thinking during implantation, while the expected outcome to increase programme staff understanding.

In a remark, the Chaiman (ZSPP), Malam Nasiru Biyabiki described the meeting as timely as it will increase the capacity of the members of the CSOs in promoting SP activities and programmes.

Biyabiki noted that, “as members of the CSOs, we have to interact with our colliques from Kaduna you share experiences and learn from each other on different and strategies, policies and programmes of the two states to promote social inclusion and other relevant social protection objectives in the state.”

He assured continued commitments from the members of the ZSPP to continue to support for the success of social protection programmes and activities.

The KADSPAC Chairperson, Jessica Bartholomew said the coalition has been supporting Kaduna state to strengthen SP system with the support of SCI for the past two years.

“This has recorded support from the SCI success in the approval of the Social Protection Policy by Kaduna state government and other system strengthening in service delivery of SP interventions”. She said.

ESPID project is looking at how to sustain this successes recorded by bringing together KADSPAC members to develop a strategic workplan that will improve SP activities in Kaduna state.

Zamfara ESPID team, Nura Muhammad and Ese Awharitoma commended the participants for their active and productive  participation, continue to share knowledge between the two platforms for effective support in delivering accountable,inclusive SP programs.
