“We have the most secured, the most efficient and the most transparent electoral system in the world. We use the finger print, we use the register of the vote.

“We have our signatures in the books, we can check and we can tick it so there is no way to cheat.

“In Venezuela, we have more than 92 per cent of recovered people from COVID, active cases, Venezuela has less than 20,000.

“So, we hope that they keep doing this to keep the health system and food distribution programmae and the National housing programme,” Virguez said.

Ms Danelly Colmenares, Council Member, Miranda State, said from the campaigns, the process had been very peaceful and all citizens were optimistic that the process would remain peaceful till the end.

Colmenares said  the government had put in place mechanisms to create an equal playing ground for both parties, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the opposition, the Democratic Unity Roundtable (UNIDAD).

“We are having elections on Sunday and our expectations is that it is going to be a peaceful process, and we believe that all the environments have been made for the candidates.

“And we expect that these elections will help in continue building of peace in our country.

“All the opposition factors are participating, including those that did not participate last December.

“And we hope that the government will win most of the governorship and mayorship and also for the opposition to win,” Colmenares said.
