We Want Southwest Presidency Not Secession : Oluwo Of Iwo
The first class chief in Osun State , Oluwo of Iwo , Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has urged the people of Southwest geopolitical zone not to buy into what he described as the senseless propaganda of secession.
He said what Yoruba needed is to woo other zones and get president of Nigeria come 2023 stressing that Nigeria and Yoruba were inseperatable
Oba Akanbi stated this on Wednesday in Sokoto shortly after meeting with Yoruba community in the state
“Let me ask you those calling for seccesion are they the traditional rulers or elites , on what basis can they speak for Yoruba nation he stated
The Paramount ruler further disclosed that his mission to Sokoto was to quell rumor making around that Yoruba and Fulani are at war.

He added that Yorubas and Fulanis have lived together for decades and ask why should people who live together for over 50 years should start fighting themselves now?
“Let me tell you in every tribe and nation there are criminals but you can’t use that as a yarkstick to generalize that the whole tribe are criminals.”.
Oluwo explained that what happened recently between Yorubas and Fulanis has a political under tone or as a result of influx of migrants to the South West.
He further stated that 90 percent of cows in Southwest are owed by the Yorubas who gave it to Fulanis to rear for them
He said he has met with Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Abubakar Sa”ad 111 and has assured him that nothing will happened to any Fulani living in Southwest..
According to him as a traditional rulers their duties is to Foster unity among all the people living in their domain irrespective of their ethnic and religious background.
“I have instructed all the Fulanis in Osun state who is out to do his legitimate business that if they are been harassed they should come to his domain that he is ready to provide shelter for them.
He also noted that the problem of Nigeria is that we don’t have data saying the borders are too many and there is no way security agents can man all of them
Oba Akanbi opined that government should increase the welfare package for the security agents and also properly fund our military for effective service delivery
He called Yorubas living in the North to be law abiding urging them to refrain from criminal tendencies
