Yari distributes Ramadan Welfare Package to 16,800 IDPs households
The Former Zamfara Gov, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari has distributed 47 trucks of assorted grains to 16,800 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) households across the state.
The former Governor had earlier announced donation of 47 trucks of assorted grains to the IDPs across the state as Ramadan welfare package.
The items were handed over to state based NGO popularity known as “Zamfara Circle” to ensure judicious distribution of the gesture to the IDPs across the state.


The former Governor also set up 16-man committee headed by Malam Aminu Jelani to monitor the distribution exercise.
Speaking at the distribution exercise in Gusau, the Monitoring Committee Chairman, Malam Aminu Jelani said the items comprised 14 trucks of Maize, 14 trucks of Rice, 14 trucks of Millet and 5 trucks of Sugar, making total of 47 trucks of assorted grains.

“Each of the 16,800 IDPs households received at least a bag of food grain or more with sugar.
“As we all know, out of the 172 trucks of food items donated to the people of the state by the former Gov as Ramadan welfare, the 47 trucks is the share allocated to IDPs through Zamfara Circle, therefore only IDPs benefits from the items”, Jelani explained. On his part, Chairman Zamfara Circle, Dr Al-amin Tsafe commended the former Governor for the gesture and described it as timely
Dr Tsafe noted that justice and fairness were main focus in the distribution of the items.
“We are appealing to political office holders and other well-meaning individuals to emulate the former Gov and extend their gesture to IDPs and other victims of banditry activities in the state.
“Our major concern is to ensure Zamfara people are comfortable in all aspects of life”, he explained.
Earlier, the Chairman, Publicity sub Committee of the Monitoring Committee, Alhaji Sha’ayau Sarkinpawa Talata-Mafara said the former Gov involved Zamfara Circle in distributing the items to the IDPs to ensure transparency and accountability in the process.
