Yobe Governor Hosts Swiss Delegation, Secures $3.4m Funding Support
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, yesterday played host to a high-level delegation from the Embassy of Switzerland, led by Mr. Nicolas Martin-Achard, First Secretary for Humanitarian Aid and Development Cooperation.
The meeting, held at the Government House in Damaturu, reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Yobe State Government and the Swiss Government in addressing humanitarian crises, displacement, and sustainable development.
Governor Buni commended Switzerland for its commitment to supporting durable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Yobe State. He expressed gratitude to the Swiss Government for its recent allocation of humanitarian funding support of approximately USD3.4 million for the 2025-2027 period.
The Governor emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating that the Swiss Government’s trust and partnership demonstrate a shared commitment to impactful and sustainable solutions.

Mr. Nicolas Martin-Achard commended Governor Buni’s leadership in addressing displacement challenges and expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to transform the lives of vulnerable populations.
The meeting concluded with Governor Buni reiterating his administration’s commitment to working closely with Switzerland and other development partners to achieve lasting peace, stability, and development in Yobe State.
The high-level meeting was attended by the Country Director of Save the Children International, Yobe State Coordinator SOLID Project, and a representative of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). (Independent)
