Yobe police parade 98 kidnap, robbery, murder suspects
The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended 98 individuals suspected of involvement in kidnappings, robberies, and murders during the initial quarter of this year.
Throughout the same timeframe, the police documented 12 kidnapping incidents, 31 cases of armed robbery, 55 instances of murder, alongside 115 theft-related offenses.
Commissioner Ahmed Garba, addressing the media in Damaturu during the weekend, revealed: “A 19-year-old, Mohammed Abdullahi, abducted and fatally harmed an 11-year-old neighbor’s son in Buni/Yadi community of Gujba local council.”
Abdullahi, included among the paraded suspects, allegedly demanded a ransom of N600,000 from the victim’s family. Garba stated, “Abdullahi threatened to end the abducted son’s life with narcotics before concealing his body in an undisclosed shallow grave.”
Explaining the arrest of the suspect, Garba elaborated: “When the victim’s parents couldn’t meet the ransom demand, the suspect procured drugs and administered them to the victim to induce sleep, resulting in the victim’s demise. Abdullahi subsequently buried the body within their residence while his parents were absent, leading to his subsequent apprehension by the police.”
