Youths im Delta State ambush, Kill 16 Army Personnel on peace mission

A tragic incident occurred in Delta State where 16 army personnel, including the commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers from the 181 Amphibious Battalion, were ambushed and killed by youths during a peace mission to the Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area.

The attack took place following a distress call stemming from a clash between Okuama and Okoloba communities.

The Acting Director of Defense Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau confirmed the incident, stating that the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa has ordered an immediate investigation and arrest of the perpetrators.

The military remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and security, with some arrests already made in connection to the attack.

The motive behind the ambush is being investigated, and the incident has been reported to the Delta State Government.
