ZAMFARA COUNCIL OF ULAMA CONDEMNS POLITICAL THUGGERY, CALLS POLITICIANS TO ORDER

The Council of Ulama of Nigeria Zamfara chapter condemned political violence and called on politicians in the state to avoid engaging youths in to political violence and drugs abuse in the state.

The Council Chairman in the state, Sheik Ahmad Bin-Umar Kanoma made the call in Gusau while meeting with leadership of political parties ahead of the 2023 general elections in the state.

The council embarked on consultations to leadership of political parties in the state with aimed at addressing the increasing political, violence thuggery and drugs abuse in the state.

Sheik Kanoma said the essence of calling this meeting to meet with leadership of political parties, advise them on what would lead to peaceful 2023 general elections in the state.

“The council noted with dismay increasing activities of drugs abuse, political thuggery and violence among youths in the state as political campaigns for 2023 general elections commenced.

“You know, part of our responsibilities is to promote peace, stability and understanding among people.

“As Ulama council, we are not happy with recent political violence in the state, we received daily complains about the increase of political thuggery, drugs abuse and violence in the state”, He said.

“We are appealing to politicians in the state to desist from politics of bitterness, violence and crisis”, He noted.

He appealing to politicians in the state, to conduct their campings in a peaceful and respectful manner.

“We should consider our state and people first, we should not undermine future of our dear state in the name of politics.

“As politicians seeking for leadership positions, you should believe that God is the giver of power.

“You should therefore do your campaigns in a peaceful manner and leave the rest to God”, Sheik Kanoma explained.
