ZAMFARA GOVT SUSPENDS EMIR OF ZURMI OVER ALLEGED AIDING BANDITRY

The Zamfara State government has suspended emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Atiku-Abubakar Muhammad over escalation of insecurity in his emirate.

This is contained in a statement signed by the acting Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe issued in Gusau on Saturday.

The armed bandits had last on Friday attacked some communities in Zurmi LGA killing over 50 persons.

“This is to inform the general public that Gov Bello Matawalle has approved the suspension of Emir of Zurm Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Muhammad.

“Accordingly, Alhaji Bello Suleiman, the district head of Kanwa is to take charge of affairs of the emirate immediately.

“Matawalle also approved the constitution of a high powered committee to investigate allegations made against the suspended emir, on his involvement in the escalating rate of banditry attacks in the emirate”, the statement said.

The composition of the committee is as follows
Malam Ibrahim Wakkala,
Former Deputy Governor to serve as Chairman.

Alhaji Mukhtar Ahmad Anka
Former Deputy Governor, member
Faruku Musa Dosara, majority leader,
Zamfara State House of assembly, member

Rtd DIG Mamman Tsafe,
Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, member.

Yusuf Abubakar Zugu,
Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, member

Representatives of the Police, DSS and NSCDC also to serve as members while the Permanent Secretary, ministry of
Security & Home Affairs to serve as Secretary of the committee.

According to the statement, the committee was given three weeks within which to complete its assignment and submit report.
