Zamfara lawmaker trains 600 constituents in irrigation, entrepreneurship development

The Federal lawmaker representing Gusau/Tsafe Constituency in Zamfara state, Alhaji Kabiru Amadu Maipalace has flagged off a three days training in irrigation and intrepreneurship development for 600 constituents from Tsafe and Gusau local governments areas.


The training was organised in collaboratoration between the lawmakers’s office and National Lottery Trust Fund.
Speaking at the inauguration of the training in Gusau on Saturday, Maipalace said  was aimed at providing capacity building for the participants on various businesses opportunities in irrigation and entrepreneurship.


Maipalace represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Alhaji Nazir Ibrahim Rufa’i said the event is under the lawmakers’ empowerment project.


“This is aimed at supporting the unemployed youths and women to participate in various businesses and reduce overdependency to government.

“After the training, each of the participant will be supported with stipend to start up the business of his choice”, the lawmakers said.


In his remark, the Parmanent Secretary to the state government on Establishment and Training, Alhaji Aliyu Altine Shinkafi urged the participants to participate actively in various opportunities in Agricultural sector especially the irrigation.


Altine Shinkafi who is also a resource person on irrigation development noted that the state was blessed with abundant arable land and water for various irrigation farming opportunities.


The Zonal Director, National Lottery Trust Fund, Sagir Ahmad Muhammad urged the participants to utilize the skills to be learned from the training on various local opportunities to establish small and medium scale businesses.
Ahmad noted that the partnership is under the federal government mandate to reduce unemployment and poverty among in Nigerians.


A resource person on entrepreneurship development and Managing Director  Simpex Consults Ltd, Garba Kaura said Nigeria is one of the countries all over the world that has abundant local products for entrepreneurship businesses.
Kaura urged the participants to use the opportunities to promote local products available in their respective areas for their future development.


In his remark, the Secretary to the lawmaker, Mr Mustafa Hassan said the training is part of the lawmakers 2021 constituency projects.


Hassan said training would be in three batches, “every batch of the training has 200 participants making a total of 600 beneficiaries”.


“Our hope with this efforts of the lawmaker to enhance employment opportunities among youths and women and address poverty among people of the state”, Hassan explained.
