Zamfara NMA urges Govt. to provide adequate security in health facilities
The Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA), Zamfara has condemned recent kidnappings of two persons at General Hospital Dansadau by unknown gunmen and called for adequate security in health facilities.
The State Chairman of the Association, Dr Mannir Bature made the condemnation in a statement issued in Gusau on Monday.
Bature said that the statement was the outcome of the association’s emergency state executive council meeting over the recent report of invasion of Dansadau General Hospital in Maru local governments area of the state.
He called on government to urgently address the rising insecurity terrorizing the medical services, or else the health workers in the state would shut down all health facilities by 6 pm daily.

According to him, a ward attendant and a patient’s relation were abducted last Friday at the Hospital Dansadau by the suspected bandits.
“The bandits were specifically looking for the doctors and nurses in the hospital, which is posing concern to the medical practitioners in the state.
“The association said it believes that the bandits are targeting the medical doctors and other healthcare workers for ransom and to help them treat their injured colleagues.
“We wants the government and security agencies, to provide adequate and special security to secure all health facilitie and protect the healthcare workers across the state”, Bature explained.
He called on government at all levels, to convene a high-level stakeholders security summit to fashion out a strategy to eliminate the prevailing insecurity
He said that the association has given two weeks ultimatum in which to provide adequate security in all the health facilities of the state.
