ZAMFARA POLICE COMMAND, RESCUES KIDNAPED VICTIMS INCLUDING 3 MONTHS OLD BABY,  RECOVERS ARMS


The Zamfara police command says it succeeded in rescuing 3 kidnaped victims including a 3 months old baby and recovered 9 AK-47 rifles, rocket launchers and seven magazines.


The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Elkanah disclosed this at a press conference in Gusau on Wednesday.
“On 13th Dec. 2021 at about 0700hrs, one Uwani Mohammed reported to the Police Station Tudun Wada Division Gusau, that on 8th Nov. 2021 her biological Son, Isma’il Sa’idu 19 years old, called and claimed to have been abducted while on his way to Sabon Birni LGA in Sokoto State.


“On 14th Nov. 2021 unidentified person called the mother with a hidden number and demanded the sum of N3,000,000 as ransom before the release her Son.


“Police preliminary investigation at Tudun Wada Division revealed that, the victim was not kidnaped as he made his mother to believe, but masterminded his self kidnappings by going into hiding and demanding ransom from his mother using different tactics”, CP said.


He further said that the suspect was trailed and arrested and investigation is in progress with a view to arresting his partners in crime, before being charge to court for prosecution.

“On 14th Dec., 2021 at about 1130hrs, police operatives attached to 78 PMF Squadron Maradun, while on rigorous confidence building patrol along Sokoto – Gusau road came across some armed robbers who are trying to block the road, opened fire on them and the robbers abandoned red boxer motorcycle at ‘Kwanar Sado’ in Talata Mafara LGA.


“After further search of the scene resulted in the recovery of a magazine of an AK-47 rifle.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the abandoned motorcycle was stolen from Garbadu village in Talata Mafara LGA by the armed bandits on 13th Dec., 2021 at about 2300hrs.
“The motorcycle was handed over to the rightful owner”, he explained.


“On 15th Dec. 2021 at about 1330hrs, DPO Bungudu Police Division on receipt of a distress call of an intending attack led a police tactical team to Rugar Tudu village where bandits stormed the community and abducted some people.
“The attack was successfully repelled by the operatives who rescued already 3 kidnaped victims including a 3 months old baby.


“The victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families after medical check-up”, the CP explained.
Elkanah added that the ongoing Military/Police and other security agencies operations at various bandit’s location has been recording tremendous result/successes.


“You would recall that, last month alone, during my two separate Press Briefings, we have showcased 13 AK-47 rifles recovered by our police operatives during a gun battle with the bandits at some locations in Shinkafi and Maradun LGAs respectively.


“As a follow-up to that achievements, on 15th December, 2021 our Police Tactical operatives on bush clearance operation at Maradun forest, acted on intelligence information, stormed a suspected bandit’s hideout near Bayan Ruwa.


The operatives had an encounter with the hoodlums thereby neutralizing many of them while others escaped with possible gunshot wounds”, he explained.


According to him, the course of combing/searching the scene 8 AK-47 rifles, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one Rocket launcher, one Rocket and five magazines were recovered by the operatives.


“On 18th December, 2021 at about 1700hrs, a group of Bandits numbering 50 stormed the above villages with intend to attack the communities.


“The police Mobile operatives attached to 42 PMF Squadron Gusau were alerted of the situation, they responded promptly and repelled the attack after a serious gun battle.
