Zamfara Speaker task house committees on dedication to duties 

The Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya, has tasked the special and standing committees of the House to be more committed and dedicated to duties.

Magarya who gave  the charges on Wednesday at the plenary expressed concern over the unnecessary delay in compiling reports by the committees of the House.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau on Wednesday by the Director-General Press and Public Affairs to the house, Mustafa Jafaru-Kaura.

“I am calling specifically on chairmen of the committees whose reports awaits prompt action of the House to do so without further delay”, The Speaker directed.

He warns that the leadership of the House will not condone laxity and unseriousness to duty.

The Speaker also called on members to always be active, saying that the Sixth Assembly is more committed to ensure effective legislation in the state.

The assembly also gave two executive bills the second reading.

The bills include:  A bill for a law to provide for the administration of Criminal Justice System in the Courts of the state and other and for other related matters 2021 and a bill for a law to establish Penal Code Law of the state.

After deliberations by the lawmakers, the assembly also directed its committees on Justice and Judiciary to scrutinise the two bills and submit its report  in three weeks and one month respectively

The assembly also commenced deliberation on a bill for a Law for the establishment and management of the state Directorate for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and other matters connected therewith 2021 which also passed the first reading
