2023: Ex-Nasarawa SSG, youths, endorse Wadada for Senate

Alhaji Ahmed Wadada, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in 2019 for Nasarawa State, has been tipped as favourite candidate for Nasarawa West Senatorial District come 2023.

Former Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Alhaji Aliyu Tijjani, made this known when he declared his total support for Wadada in the race for the senatorial seat.

Tijjani made the endorsement on Saturday in Keffi, at the inauguration of the Executive Committee of the Wadada Frontiers, a pro-democracy group of youths from five local government areas (LGAs), which make up Nasarawa West Senatorial District.

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Wadada is the current Chairman of Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN), and a former member of the House of Representatives between 2003 to 2011.

“We are here to inaugurate members of the Executive Committee of Wadada Frontiers, and also to reiterate our support to the senatorial ambition of Wadada in Nasarawa West.

“I want to tell you that our hope has no limit in terms of winning an election, not only in Nasarawa State or Nasarawa West Senatorial District, but in Nigeria as a whole.

“So, therefore, APC is the emblem, and it will retain power, not only in Nasarawa State, but in the whole country,” Tijjani said.

Also speaking at the event, a former Commissioner for Environment in the state, Danladi Madaki, said Wadada’s candidacy represented hope for the youths, the masses, vulnerable groups and the voiceless in the democratic process.

“We are here because we the youths want to rekindle the hope of the masses, the politicians in Nasarawa State, and particularly in Nasarawa West Senatorial zone.

“And that is why we decided as youths, elders and grassroots politicians, to ensure that come 2023, Wadada goes to the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

“We tested him when we was in the lower chamber, we saw what he has done, he used his position to empower the masses.

“We felt he should be at the upper chamber to continue with the good work he has done in the past,” Madaki said.

On his part, Zonal Chairman of the frontiers, Alhaji Hamisu Abdulmumini, who described the frontiers as a child of necessity, explained that the group was formed to galvanise support for Wadada in the zone.

Abdulmumini, who alleged lack of constituency projects in Nasarawa West Senatorial District, said that the people of the zone, especially youths, were yearning for better representation at the National Assembly.

Responding, Wadada, expressed appreciation to the Nasarawa youths for finding him worthy to be endorsed for the senate come 2023.

“Let me start by registering my gratitude to the almighty Allah, and appreciation, as well as commendation, to the organisers of today’s occasion under the name of Wadada Frontiers.

“Gratitude to Allah for showing us this day, appreciation and commendations for them because from what they have exhibited, they are very genuine.

“Genuine because when they were forming this organisation, I had no clue whatsoever how they formed it. I only got to know after its establishment.

“And in the course of formation of the organisation, none of them approached me for any kind of help or support, be it moral, financial or otherwise.

“And to date, how they got this office, I never knew, nobody mentioned it to me.

“That is why I said they are very genuine, and I commend them because they have come together to market a product that cannot be wished away by anybody, with due respect,” the senatorial hopeful said.

VMT NEWS reports that the event was attended by Mr Taminu Adamson, former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Nasarawa State.

Others were the Chairman, Karu LGA, Mr James Thomas, as well as Alhaji Baba Shehu, Chairman, Keffi LGA, among others.
