2023:  ZAMFARA APC GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRANT, ABDULMALIK GAJAM, WITHDRAWS FROM THE RACE

RACE Abdulmalik Gajam, a Governorship aspirant in Zamfara under the All Progressives Congress (APC) has withdrawn from the race.

Gajam announced his withdrawal from the contest on Thursday in Gusau before the commencement of the governorship and state house of assembly primaries of the party.
A total of 735 delegates from the 14 Local Government Areas of the state are expected to cast their vote in the primaries through affirmation.


“I am happy to announce my withdrawal from the governorship contest based on loyalty to the supremacy of our great party,’’ Gajam said.
Speaking earlier, the State APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani described the withdrawal of the aspirant as a welcome development.

“Danfulani commended the aspirant for being loyal to the party and giving chance for Gov. Bello Matawalle to be only APC governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections in the state.’’
In his remark, the former Gov, Abdul’aziz Yari reiterated his support to Gov. Matawalle’s candidature.
Yari noted that the recent reconciliation of the party will boost the party’s strength ahead of the 2023 general elections in the state.


“APC remained strongest and only competent political party in Zamfara.
“To the best of my knowledge, I don’t know any political party that can compete with APC in Zamfara,’’Yari pointed out.
Also speaking, former Gov. Mahmud Shinkafi commended Matawalle and Yari for the reconciliation drive of the party in the state.
Shinkafi noted that the reconciliation drive provided positive result in promoting unity, peace and stability in the party state.


He commended Gajam over his withdrawal from the governorship contest in the state.
The Chairman, Governorship Primary Elections Committee in the state, Alhaji Babagana Tijjani Banki said the party candidate would be elected through affirmation inline with the provision of the APC constitution.


Banki noted that with the withdrawal of Gajam,  Matawalle remained the only candidate of the party for governorship race.
He thanked the delegates for their orderly manner and peaceful conduct of in the exercise.
