2027 election: Radda urges APC stakeholders to sustain grassroots mobilisation
Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has urged stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to sustain grassroots mobilisation and ensure that government programmes and achievements are effectively communicated to communities.
Radda made the call on Tuesday in Katsina at the inauguration of 1,080 grassroots mobilisers to coordinate support for his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The mobilisers, drawn from the state’s 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs), were inaugurated under the newly established: ‘Dikko Mai da Alkhairi da Alkhairi’ movement.
Radda, while inaugurating the movement, said the initiative was an offshoot of the state’s Community Development Programme (CDP), which had attracted the attention of the World Bank because of its grassroots impact.
He said that a World Bank delegation that recently visited the state had expressed interest in adopting the Katsina CDP framework as a model for consideration in other states.
“This demonstrates the effectiveness of the programme in taking government interventions directly to communities and bridging the gap between government and the people.
“The CDP was established to serve residents irrespective of political affiliation, adding that government interventions should benefit communities across the state.
“The new movement is an expression of appreciation by people who had witnessed the impact of his administration’s programmes in their communities,” he said.
He commended the CDP members for their contributions to grassroots development, saying the programme has helped to strengthen communication between government and communities.
The governor also urged communities to take ownership of the administration’s Katsina Tree-Plant-One-T initiative, saying the state was targeting the planting of about two million trees within one year.
He further commended the digitalisation of aspects of the CDP, saying it would enhance transparency, coordination and accountability while exposing young participants to leadership and technological skills.
Earlier, the Director-General of the movement, Associate Prof. Kamaluddeen Kabir, said its philosophy was anchored on the principle of rewarding good with good?”
Kabir said the CDP had, within about two years, taken various interventions, including agricultural support, fertiliser distribution and water-related projects, to communities across the state.

He said the movement would mobilise grassroots support for the APC through state, zonal and ward structures extending to polling units.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director-General of the movement, Muntari Musa, said the network comprised Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) and community development leaders from the 361 wards of the state.
Musa assured the governor of the group’s continued support, saying its members would remain committed to communicating government programmes and their impact to communities.
The APC Chairman in the state, Dr Bashir Gambo-Saulawa, described the mobilisers as important ambassadors of the administration at the grassroots.
Gambo-Saulawa urged them to communicate the achievements of the administration to the people and enable residents to assess the governor’s promises against projects and programmes executed.
He cited the recruitment of more than 10,000 teachers, road projects, renovation of healthcare facilities, educational opportunities, Danja Dam irrigation project and the Katsina Youth Craft Village among the administration’s achievements.
Representatives of the movement from the three senatorial zones pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the APC and Radda’s re-election bid in 2027.
Hajara Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of women from Daura Zone, said women were firmly behind the administration because of its development projects and interventions across communities.
She expressed confidence that the grassroots structures would secure greater electoral support for Radda in 2027 than he received in the previous election.
