Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi has been honoured with the Award of National Excellence for Outstanding Governance in Security and Youth Development.

The award was conferred on the governor by the Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE) at a ceremony held on Tuesday night at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the ceremony was organised by the centre to recognise individuals and institutions that have demonstrated ethical leadership and contributed to governance and national development.

Ododo was represented at the event by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, who received the award on his behalf.

In his reaction, Ododo dedicated the award to the people of Kogi, saying the recognition was a reflection of the collective efforts of his administration and the people  toward building a safer and more prosperous state.

He said the award had further reinforced his administration’s commitment to strengthening security architecture, creating opportunities for young people and implementing people-oriented policies that improve the lives of citizens.

The governor expressed appreciation to CECOE for the recognition.

He noted that the honour would serve as an encouragement for his administration to sustain its development drive.

According to him, the progress recorded in security and youth development is a product of the collective commitment of members of his administration, security agencies, youths and citizens across the state.

“I dedicate this recognition to the good people of Kogi state.

“This honour belongs to all the people of Kogi,  who continue to contribute to the progress and development of our dear state,” he said.

Ododo reaffirmed that his administration would continue to prioritise security as a foundation for sustainable economic growth, while expanding opportunities for youth empowerment and inclusive development.

Meanwhile, the Accountant-General of Kogi, Dr Habibat Onumoko, was also honoured at the ceremony where she was decorated as the Matron of the Centre.

The governor congratulated Onumoko on the recognition, commending her contributions to prudent financial management and the development efforts of the state.
