2027: Fubara’s Brother Joins Rivers Governorship Race
Amb. Blessing Fubara, younger brother of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has officially declared his ambition for the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), with 2027: Fubara’s Brother Joins Rivers governorship race gathering momentum in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Blessing Fubara said his decision to contest was driven by the need to restore economic prosperity, political stability, and opportunities for the people of Rivers State.
The governorship aspirant described himself as a competent, energetic, and prepared candidate committed to rebuilding what he called the “soul of Rivers.”
According to him, the state has suffered setbacks that have negatively affected investments, economic growth, and the dignity of its people.

“Today, we see a Rivers that is distressed, shortchanged and almost seeming like a conquered state, but we are not a conquered people,” he said.
Fubara called on his supporters across the 23 local government areas of the state to mobilise and participate actively in the electoral process in order to “reclaim the soul of Rivers.”
He also pledged to serve only a single four-year term if elected governor, explaining that the move would allow Rivers South-East Senatorial District to complete its eight-year tenure in line with the state’s political power rotation arrangement.
The aspirant warned that any attempt to alter the established zoning formula could create a dangerous political precedent capable of undermining peace and stability in the state.
He assured residents that his administration would prioritise inclusive governance, economic recovery, and unity among all political interests in Rivers State.
