300,000 HOUSEHOLDS TO RECEIVE FG’s CONDITIONAL CASH TRANSFER IN ZAMFARA, SAYS COMMISSIONER 


No fewer than 300,000 households will benefit from the Federal Government/World Bank monthly Conditional Cash Transfer in Zamfara state.


The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Fa’ika Ahmad disclosed this in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday by the Director of Information in the ministry, Malam Bashir Kabir.


Ahmad noted that the beneficiaries were drawn from across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state for the monthly stipend under cash transfer programme in the state.


According to the statement, Ahmad made the disclosure during a meeting with the World Bank Country Director, Shubham Chaudhuri; Reginal Director, Dena Ringold; Zamfara State Head of Service, Kabiru Muhammad; and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry Of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Bashir Alkali.

“Other government functionaries at the meeting were National Coordinator National Social Investment Programmes(NSIP) Dr Umar Bindir, National Coordinator National Social Safety-Net Mr Apera Lorwa and National Programme Coordinator Conditional Cash Transfer Hajiya Halima Shehu,” the statement added.


The Commissioner further noted that the 300,000 beneficiaries from the 14 Local Government Areas is an increase from the initial figure of 130, 673 beneficiaries from six Local Government Areas previously approved.“The development will boost the economy of the state,” she said.


She assured that the ministry will sustain it’s numerous programmes aimed at improving the livelihood and economic growth of vulnerable people in the state.


The Commissioner ascribed the successes achieved so far in the state to the support by Governor Bello Matawalle.


She reassured the people of the state that they will continue to benefit from the Social Protection Programmes coordinated by her ministry.
