5 Corps Members To Extend Service , one Repeat Service Year In Sokoto

 5 Corps members have their service year extended while one is to repeat his service year by committing various offenses ranging from abscondment and truancy in Sokoto State.

The Coordinator of NYSC in the State Mr Usman Yakubu Yaro, (YY)  said that five corps members of the 2022 Batch B stream 2, will serve various punishments while one is to repeat service year in the state.

Yakubu Yaro disclosed this in house , Sokoto while briefing journalists during the collection of Certificates of National Service by the corps members.

He said that the affected corps members were sanctioned for various offenses, including abscondment and absenteeism during their service year.

He noted that the scheme had zero tolerance for truancy and would not hesitate to punish any erring corps member.

According to him, sanctioned corps members will have their service year extended for at least three weeks or one month, for various misconducts during their service year.

He advised the  outgoing corps members to utilize the skill acquired during the service year to enable them become self reliance.

He urged them to be good ambassadors of the scheme and their family.

The State Coordinator said two corps members that distinguished themselves would received Sultan Abubakar Sa’ad meritorious awards. 

He commended Sokoto state government and Sultanate Council for the support accorded to NYSC Secretariat and corps members at all  time. 

Our correspondent gathered  that 498 corps members passed out comprised 347 males and 141 females in Sokoto state and were issued Certificates of National Service.
