IGP PRESENTS N34.4 MILLION CHEQUES TO  FAMILIES OF NINE POLICEMEN IN ZAMFARA

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Usman Alkali, has presented cheques worth over N34.4 million to families of 9 policemen who lost their lives in active service.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Friday by the Police Spokesman in the state, SP Muhammad Shehu.

Shehu said the Zamfara Commissioner of Police, Mr Kolo Yusuf presented the cheques to the families on behalf of the IGP.

“As part of the IGP’s welfare initiative to serving, and families of deceased officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Zamfara Commissioner of Police, Mr Kolo Yusuf presented cheques of N34.4 million to the 9 families of the deceased officers and men”, he said.

According to him, the beneficiaries include CPL Sani Sagir attached to Gummi Division.

“This is the continuation of the IGP’s Group Life Welfare Insurance/Personal Accident schemes for families of deceased officers.

“Today we are presenting cheques of N34. 4 million to 9 families of deceased officers and men of the NPF.

“While a cheque of N100,000  was presented to CPL. Sani Sagir attached to Gummi Division for medical expenses on the injury he sustained during operation”, he said.

He described the gesture as timely and it will go a long way in alleviating the suffering of the deceased families.

Kolo noted that the cheques were testimonies of the IGP’s welfare scheme to the families of deceased police officers.

The Police Commissioner appreciated the IGP for his continuous concern to welfare of  officers and men.

He charged the beneficiaries to utilize the money offered to them judiciously.

“I believe that the gesture will equally boost the morale of serving personnel to continue to put in their best in the ongoing campaign against activities of criminal elements across the country.

Mr Charles Jatau and Zainab Zubairu, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the IGP for the gesture and promised judicious utilisation of the resources.
